High praise from the largest library in the world

The National Centre of Literacy and Numeracy for Adults has received international acknowledgement by being selected as a 2016 Library of Congress Literacy Awards Program Best Practice Honouree. The Library of Congress is the USA’s first established cultural institution and the largest library in the world, with millions of items including books, recordings, photographs, maps and manuscripts in its collections.

In selecting the National Centre for the best practice award, the judges said the organisation had demonstrated an excellent implementation of a literacy promotion best practice that they felt should be recognised and shared widely, and the work of the centre promoting research-based professional development was a model of effective integration of theory and practice.
