The profiles were developed by talking to vocational tutors about the literacy and numeracy demands of their courses and the demands of the work post training.

Some demands are generic across the vocations, such as reading instructions, talking and listening to clients, and managing time.

Other demands are more specific such as reading recipes in baking, measuring pressure gauges in engineering and calculating dosages in nursing.
