In this section we discuss what you need to know about your learners in order to strengthen their writing knowledge and skills.

You need to know:

  • where your learners are now - what their current writing knowledge and skills look like
  • what attitude and/or motivation influences their writing
  • what they think about their own writing
  • what kinds of writing they need and/or want to do, and what writing skills and knowledge they need in order to do this.

With this knowledge about your learners, you’ll be able to plan the next steps to strengthen their writing.
