  • Suggest to the learners that they note the comments made by the others in the group, on the margin of their first draft.
  • Get the learners to use these comments to improve their pieces of writing in a second draft.
  • The educator can intervene in the process at any time during the re-draft to focus on teaching a specific skill. Refer back to Module 2 in this Professional Learning Series for some deliberate acts of teaching that you can use to teach specific knowledge and skills.
  • When they’re up to their third draft, let learners see as well as hear each others’ pieces of writing.
  • The reading process can take place up to three or four times – until the last draft is pretty well honed for publication.
