Professional Development opportunity for PTE sector

The following Literacy and Numeracy for Adults Assessment Tool professional development workshops are available:

 

1. Foundation Focused Training Opportunities (FFTO): Use of the Assessment Tool to inform teaching and learning

These workshops are designed to support the use of the Assessment Tool and Learning Progressions to inform teaching and learning.

The FFTO professional development workshop intended outcomes are:

  • Improved use of the Assessment Tool for informing teaching and learning practice
  • Increased familiarity and understanding of the Numeracy (Make Sense of Number to Solve Problems) Learning Progressions
  • Practice teaching strategies for numeracy related to participants’ own material/resources/context.

Participants will need to bring:

  • Learning Progressions for Adult Numeracy
  • Teaching Adults to Make Sense of Number to Solve Problems: Using the Learning Progressions
  • A numeracy resource from own programme / context

 

2. PTE Open Session: Tertiary Education Commission update on reporting Assessment Tool data

The Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) is holding professional development for all PTEs on changes to implementing, administering, reporting and general usage of the Literacy and Numeracy for Adults Assessment Tool (Assessment Tool).  This professional development ‘PTE open session: TEC update on reporting Assessment Tool data’ includes key aspects of reporting data to the TEC via SDR returns and is targeted at management and administration of Assessment Tool data.

The ‘PTE open session’ is in addition to the National Centre of Literacy and Numeracy for Adults professional development for FFTO practitioners on ‘Use of the Assessment Tool to inform teaching and learning’.

Register for both or either of the professional development sessions (you must be an FFTO provider to be eligible for both sessions) by clicking on the link for the specific workshop you wish to attend.  Registration spaces are limited and will close one week prior to each event, we suggest early registration to ensure a place. 

The FFTO session is limited to a maximum of two people per organisation, PTE Open Session is limited to one person per organisation.  Each participant must complete a registration form.
