In 2013 the National Centre for Adult Literacy and Numeracy hosted a series of three symposia ‘Ki te whai ao, ki te ao mārama’. The key opportunities arising from the symposia were to encourage Embedded Literacy and Numeracy in Practice and Research, and to seek out and support leadership in practice and research in Adult Literacy and Numeracy. The overall goal was to encourage and support enquiry, experimentation and creativity that leads to the sustainable, reflexive praxis of practitioners, potential researchers and researchers in the field of adult numeracy and literacy.

See below for further information about the National Centre's 2013 symposia, wānanga and conferences.
