PTE Leadership: Sustainable embedded literacy and numeracy (ELN) practices. Whole organisation strategic planning

Audience: Senior managers of Private Training Establishments (PTEs). This workshop is for PTE managers and staff who are responsible for strategic planning and for ELN. To maximise the quality and usefulness of the process it is recommended that two to three people from the same organisation participate in this workshop.

Description: Effective embedded literacy and numeracy teaching and learning requires a whole organisation approach. Before attending the workshop PTEs will have self-assessed their level of embedding against TEC’s ELN Practices table and will bring to the workshop their organisation’s ELN vision.

The workshop takes participants through a process utilising the National Centre’s good practice self-assessment ELN Whole Organisation Framework for strategic planning.  Working from their vision the process helps participants identify their organisation’s policy, roles and responsibilities for developing and implementing sustainable ELN practices and systems. By the end of the day participants will have developed an ELN strategic action plan and identified prioritised actions for implementation.

Workshop facilitators model a process which participants may use in their own organisations.

Intended Outcomes:

  • Improved understanding of an ELN whole organisation approach to learner outcomes
  • Writing an action plan for developing and implementing ELN whole organisation sustainable systems and practices
